Quick Fallacy Scan
Get the argument from the user. If they haven't provided one, ask:
"What argument or reasoning would you like me to check for fallacies?"
If the input is very short (a sentence or two), ask if there's more context
that would help with the analysis.
Scan the argument for logical fallacies. For each fallacy detected:
- Name the fallacy
- Quote the specific part of the argument where it appears
- Explain briefly why this reasoning is flawed
Focus on clear, obvious fallacies—don't stretch to find problems that
aren't there. If the reasoning is sound, say so.
Present findings in this format:
Fallacy Scan Results
Fallacies Found: [number] or "None detected"
[For each fallacy:]
[Fallacy Name]
"[Quote from the argument]"
Why it's a fallacy: [Brief explanation]
Overall: [Quick summary—is the core reasoning sound despite any
fallacies found, or do the fallacies undermine the argument?]
If no fallacies were found, note what makes the reasoning solid and
suggest areas to watch for potential weaknesses.
To run this task you must have the following required information:
> An argument, claim, or piece of reasoning to analyze
If you don't have all of this information, exit here and respond asking for any extra information you require, and instructions to run this task again with ALL required information.
---
You MUST use a todo list to complete these steps in order. Never move on to one step if you haven't completed the previous step. If you have multiple read steps in a row, read them all at once (in parallel).
Add all steps to your todo list now and begin executing.
